Old unit removed and recycled

Your old air conditioner out, a new efficient system in — usually the same day. We recover the refrigerant legally, take the old unit away, and reuse what can safely be reused to keep the price down.
When it is time to replace
Air conditioners do not last forever. After ten to fifteen years most units are running on worn compressors and fans, using older and less efficient technology, and often an older refrigerant that is getting harder and more expensive to service. At that point a repair can cost a large share of a new system and still leave you with an old machine.
Our new for old replacement service swaps the old system for a new inverter split system or cassette in one visit. Because the wall penetrations, brackets and electrical are usually already there, a replacement is often quicker and cheaper than a brand-new install.
Signs your air conditioner is due for replacement

How it works
How a new for old replacement runs
One visit for most homes, and you are never left without a working system for long.
Free assessment
We look at the old system, the room, the switchboard and the existing pipework and bracket, and confirm the right size for the new unit — not just whatever was there before.
Fixed written quote
The new model is named on the quote, along with removal of the old unit, refrigerant recovery, any electrical work and make-good. No surprises on the day.
Refrigerant recovered
An ARC-licensed technician recovers the refrigerant from the old system into a recovery cylinder, as the law requires — it is never vented to the atmosphere.
Old unit out
Indoor and outdoor units removed. Existing pipework is pressure-tested and flushed and only reused if it passes; otherwise it is replaced.
New system in
The new unit is installed, pressure-tested, vacuumed and commissioned, and the electrical connection is certified by our registered electrical contractor (REC 27289).
Certificate, clean-up and recycling
You get a compliance certificate for the work, we take the old unit and all packaging away for recycling, run the new system with you and leave the warranty paperwork.

New for old replacement questions
It means we take your old air conditioner out and put a new one in, in the same job. Removal of the old indoor and outdoor units, legal recovery of the refrigerant and disposal are all included in the quote, so you are not left with an old unit to get rid of.
Sometimes. If the existing refrigerant pipework is the right size for the new unit, in good condition, and passes a pressure test and flush, we can reuse it — which saves time and money and avoids new holes in the wall. If it does not pass, we replace it. We tell you which at the assessment.
No. We size the new system on the room, not on the old unit, and many older systems were undersized or oversized to begin with. We supply and install Mitsubishi Electric, Fujitsu, Panasonic and Midea, and will recommend the model that suits your space and budget.
Most like-for-like split system replacements are done in half a day to a day. Replacing a wall unit with a ceiling cassette can take longer. We put a realistic time on the quote.
The refrigerant is recovered by an ARC-licensed technician and returned for proper destruction or recycling. The unit itself is taken away and recycled, so the metals and components do not end up in landfill.
