Both are reverse cycle systems with an indoor unit and an outdoor condenser. A split system’s indoor head mounts high on a wall and blows air in one direction — it is the most cost-effective way to heat and cool a bedroom or living area. A cassette sits recessed in the ceiling, flush with the plaster, and throws air four ways, so it spreads comfort more evenly through large open-plan rooms, shops and offices and keeps the walls clear. A back-to-back split system installation — where the indoor head sits directly opposite the outdoor unit with a short pipe run — is the least expensive scenario. Cost rises with capacity, longer pipe runs, upper-storey access, switchboard upgrades and any make-good to brickwork or cladding. Ceiling cassettes cost more again because of the ceiling cut-in and condensate drainage. If we are replacing an old unit, removal and refrigerant recovery are included in the price. Rather than quote a range that will not match your house, we give you a fixed written price after a free site assessment.
Start with how many rooms you actually need conditioned and how often. One or two rooms almost always points to split systems. Several rooms usually means a split system in each, so every room has its own control. A large open-plan area, or a shop or office where you want the walls clear, often points to a ceiling cassette. We assess room volume, glazing, orientation, insulation and ceiling height on site and recommend accordingly — the free assessment is genuinely free and you are not obliged to proceed.
A standard single split system installation usually takes four to six hours, and we normally have you up and running the same day. Longer pipe runs, second-storey or restricted access, a switchboard upgrade or additional circuits can push it into a full day. A ceiling cassette usually takes a full day. A new for old replacement is often quicker than a fresh install because the old brackets and penetrations are already there. We give you a realistic time on the quote rather than an optimistic one.
Yes. Our cleaning and sanitising service strips the indoor unit down, washes the coil, fan barrel and drain tray, and finishes with an anti-bacterial sanitiser. It is the fix for units that smell musty, drip or have lost airflow, and we recommend it every one to two years. Keep washing the filters yourself every one to three months in heavy use.
We supply and install Mitsubishi Electric, Fujitsu, Panasonic and Midea. We are not tied to a single manufacturer, so the recommendation you get is based on the capacity you need, the noise limits at your boundary, the controller you want to live with and your budget. If a specific brand is a condition of a body corporate or a landlord, tell us and we will work to it.
Every system we install carries the manufacturer's warranty, typically five to seven years on the equipment depending on brand and model. On top of that we warrant our own workmanship — the pipework, brackets, electrical and make-good. Full details are on our warranty page.
